Erwin introduces himself

My name is Erwin de Vries, 21 years young and I live nice and close by namely in Jubbega. Since February 12, I can call myself an intern at Fabryk Design. The course I am taking is Interior Design at Friesland College in Leeuwarden. Here I am in the2nd year of study and have chosen to do an internship with Esther. My internship period is 10 weeks long and ends on April 27, so I have plenty of time to learn. I myself have been busy with my assignments from minute 1.

Interior Design

My passion for interior design runs in the family. My father has his own interior design business and my mother also changes the interior at home every so often. I myself have always been drawing “dream” houses and how to best lay out the interior since I was little.

Training

You may be thinking he is 21 and still in2nd grade how can that be? Well because before this I took two more courses namely: Middle Management Engineering (Technology) and Chef. I totally didn’t know what I wanted and started looking around to see what my friends were going to follow. So after “messing up” two courses, I am finally in my place and enjoying going to school.

My goal

It is and always has been in the back of my mind, namely, to start my own business. Before going through with this, I want to gather as much information and experience as possible for this. Because Fabryk Design has not been around for as long as I have, I can experience what it is like to develop a business, what it takes and what you have to deal with.

What would I like to learn?

I like the challenge of being able to make something out of nothing, what I mean by this is that I want to experience the process from A to Z and see what my qualities and pitfalls are along the way, so I know where there is work to be done. Of course, I would also like to learn which programs to use to perform certain tasks and how to improve my design skills. All in all, I am in a good place here and I am curious to see what this internship time will bring me!
